Living Mercy in These Times | ISMAPNG COVID19 Response
This video was created for the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG) in response to the global pandemic of COVID19 in 2020.
The animation was sent to all staff involved and associated with ISMAPNG and also aimed at those working at the front line in Mercy hospitals, social services, aged Care facilities and schools. It was designed to create a sense of community and bring people together during such trying times. The video begins with a letter from Catherine McAuley (the founder of the Sisters of Mercy) to draw similarities between the current global crisis and how the sisters were also called upon to respond to epidemics in their time. This opening was created in a more traditional style to help reflect on the history and contrast to the rest of the graphics.
The focal of this animation was the spirit of mercy and ‘Living Mercy in These Times’. This was illustrated by using each letter of the acrostic of Mercy as a window view to each theme in more depth. The message of hope, spirit and community was conveyed in the rich and vibrant colours that were designed to help brighten these darker times.
